Bookkeeper Job Opening in New York, New york - Job Roles and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of prior business experience, ideally working in a related role, with a strong capability in accounting and bookkeeping for a products related company. Our culture is highly collaborative and entrepreneurial, so a desire to be part of a small team and demonstrate initiative and proactive problem solving is crucial.
This individual will report directly to the company Controller but should also be adept at working independently and taking ownership of his/her work, improving and streamlining processes where possible. The role is a part-time position, Monday through Friday, 9am ? 3pm.
duties
Enter all customer invoices and vendor invoices in Quickbooks, validate and record credit and debit memos
Record all cash transactions, reconcile cash daily and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivables, reconciliations and check runs
Reconcile company credit card and record transactions
Oversee tax, annual sales tax reports for NY and prepare and file 1099 forms
Research variances from budget/forecast to determine cause and provide management with results so that corrective action can be implemented
Manage details of transactions with factoring company, record payments, chargebacks and fees, and prepare monthly reconciliation
Assist w/ various cash flow analyses, preparation of product cost analysis and monitoring

Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting
- experience in the consumer industry
Strong team player
Passion for business and learning a new Company/Industry
High proficiency with Quickbooks Enterprise Edition with AR emphasis with chargebacks
Flexibility with work hours
Ability to be responsive to business matters within a 24 hour period (i.e. payroll issues, PO?s, etc)
Excellent with follow-up, a keen attention to detail and strong communication skills
Residence within commuting distance to Midtown Manhattan office
