ROLE: Staff Accountant

GENERAL SCOPE:
The Staff Accountant is a vital team member who enhances the Company?s mission and core values by delivering quality and timely accounting services to our clients.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all accounting and reporting for all properties
Maintain financial records (e.g. monthly financials, budgets, fixed assets, etc.)
Prepare accurate, timely, and organized financial reporting packages for all properties including recording of journal entries, preparation of all supporting schedules, revenue and expenses variance analysis, and bank reconciliations
Maintains general ledger and directs month-end close process
Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
Use accounting knowledge to ensure financial statements are presented accurately and are updated on an ongoing basis
Maintain working knowledge of agreements, Management Agreements, and real estate tax and property insurance assessments to facilitate timely and accurate processing
Coordinate with the Property Manager to establish new tenant accounts and prepare posting of all tenant charges
Review and reconcile all accounts receivable and accounts payable and coordinate resolution of discrepancies on a regular basis
Assist Property Managers in preparation of annual budgets; review budgets and actual transactions from an accounting and business perspective to make suggestions on future budgeting
Review and approve payables, leases, billing adjustments, deposits, etc.
Assist with annual financial audit
Complete all other projects or requests as directed by Supervisor
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Prior experience with MRI preferred
One to three years of experience as a primary accountant
Associate?s degree in accounting, Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
Experience in real estate/property management accounting is a plus
Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
Strong communication, documentation, and follow-through skills
Excellent social and motivational skills
Punctual and dependable
Highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work in a deadline driven environment
Strong computer skills
