AmeriCorps Logistics and Volunteer Coordinator; United Way o... Job Opening in Sumter, South carolina - Program Overview:
The United Way of Sumter, Lee, and Clarendon Counties, in partnership with SBP, a national, nonprofit rebuilding organization whose mission is to ensure that disaster-impacted citizens and communities recover in a prompt, efficient and predictable manner, is searching for a Logistics & Volunteer Coordinator. The position will work in direct support of the Tri-County Long Term Recovery Group, a collaborative team of community leaders, local/state officials, and representatives from affected communities, FEMA, United Way, and others. This group has and continues to assess the greatest unmet needs in the area, assist local organizations aiding disaster victims, seeks financial and in-kind resources, and determines priorities for recovery efforts. The collaboration is designed to strategically align all available resources, including volunteers, material donations, and alternative funding. Although the floodwaters are gone, problems still exist and will continue to exist within many of our communities.
AmeriCorps Member Position Overview:
The Logistics & Volunteer Coordinator will play a vital role in the process of rebuilding our clients? homes, and support SBP and the Tri-County Longterm Recovery Group?s missions by creating an extraordinary volunteer experience, while simultaneously ensuring that construction sites and volunteers are equipped with the tools and materials they need, when they need it. Aside from handling all volunteer logistics, this member will work directly with the LTRG Coordinator to ensure efficient procurement of materials, that the warehouse is maintained in an organized and safe fashion, and that there is an effective tool tracking and inventory system in place.
Minimum Requirements

Essential Functions
Effectively schedule prompt and accurate deliveries of supplies so that project sites have what they need to complete each project on time and on schedule
Assist the LTRG Coordinator to maintain a clean, safe and organized warehouse to ensure tools and materials stocked in the warehouse are easily found, accessible and properly maintained.
Prepare orders (tools and materials) for project managers and trades teams.
Ensure prompt and accurate delivery of these orders.
Perform internal accounting to maintain tools and tracks their location.
Schedule deliveries and other tasks to ensure optimal efficiency throughout each day and week.
Work with LTRG Coordinator to discover when there is a risk or problem in warehouse operations
Create innovative solutions for facility design, scheduling and logistics of supply deliveries etc. relevant to warehouse operations.
Develop and track daily and weekly goals.
Maintain a professional and positive attitude.
Interact effectively and positively with other team members.
Identify potential new subcontractors for LTRG Coordinator approval and maintain sub base
Build and maintain subcontractor folders on drive, collect proper sub documentation
Order and process utilities and special orders for sites; i.e. dumpsters, drywall, etc.
Ensure all electronic construction files, gantt charts, excel tracking documents, and white boards are up to date with accurate information
Respond to volunteer requests, questions, or general inquiries via email and phone in a timely fashion
Coordinate all trip logistics for volunteers. This includes being the point of contact for multiple volunteer groups in any given week: both volunteers currently on site and those registering for weeks or months in advance.
Accurately document all communications and logistics.
Use of volunteer management software including SalesForce, Formstack, Google spreadsheets, and Classy.
Update and track volunteer information on Google documents used by multiple departments
Assess availability of volunteer work and schedule volunteer groups
Give orientations to as many as 150 volunteers at a time
Give debriefings at the end of each volunteer experience
Encourage groups to stay engaged with SBP by returning to volunteer or spreading the work
Clearly communicate the enduring needs of our clients
Spend no more than 10% of the AmeriCorps service term engaging volunteers in fundraising efforts that support the fundraising goals of the AmeriCorps project.
Maintain updated records and routinely track volunteer information, including volunteer numbers, contributions and feedback.
Keep volunteers informed about upcoming SBP events
Maintain an energetic and positive attitude with volunteers and colleagues
Build partnerships with local businesses and community organizations
Participate in outreach and planning for volunteer special events
Communicate with entire SBP team about the role, function and needs of volunteers
Additional Responsibilities :
Although not essential position functions, the Logistics & Volunteer Coordinator may also be responsible for the following as needed:
Assist other departments in major projects as needed as it relates directly to the AmeriCorps program.
Perform other duties as assigned as it relates directly to the AmeriCorps program.
Participate in outside service activities approved by the program?s director.
Benefits:
This position is eligible for a living allowance, education award, health benefits, and childcare assistance. The stipend for this position is $1,263 per month for the term of service.
