Position Reports To: Vice President, Metro Foods, Inc.

POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for promoting Company products as a professional sales representative to all assigned existing and prospective accounts. Develops and maintains productive working relationships with customers that allow sales and marketing goals to be achieved. Conducts sales calls to seek the placement of product in high volume areas. Ensures that customers are well satisfied with products and services. Makes recommendations to management regarding product development, pricing, and sales projections. Assists area personnel as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of area sales and marketing functions.
Makes sales presentations to prospective customers as requested.
Prospects for new accounts and seeks opportunities to increase existing ones. Conducts regular sales calls to develop customer relationships and follow up on leads.
Tracks sales deals through closing.
Negotiates product placement to ensure high volume positioning.
Meets established quotas and sales goals.
Ensures that sales accounts are serviced in accordance with Company standards and policies.
Ensures products are delivered on time. Monitors inventory levels to avoid product shortages.
Forecasts long range account sales, inventory levels, and product needs, and communicates related information regularly to management.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good business relations with customers.
Ensures that customers are satisfied with Company products and services.
Obtains customer feedback and continually works to improve products and services.
Resolves customer requests, complaints, and problems.
Promotes goodwill and conveys a positive image of the Company.
Promotes products and services at trade shows.
Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective working relations, communication, and coordination with Company personnel and with management.
Sets sales goals in accordance with Company objectives. Tracks progress toward goals.
Provides assistance to area personnel as needed.
Keeps management informed of area activities, changes in competitive conditions, and significant problems.
Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly.
Attends meetings as required.
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
Completes special projects.
Provides backup for other sales positions as needed.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Existing accounts are maintained or expanded and new ones developed.
Sales and profit goals are met or exceeded.
Accounts are managed in accordance with established Company policies and procedures.
Good working relationships exist with customers.
Management is appropriately informed of significant problems, area activities, and competitive conditions.
Recommendations for product development, placement, and promotions are made as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
: Associate?s egree, 4 year degree preferred, valid driver?s license.
Required Knowledge: Must have good knowledge of Company products and services within 3 months of hire date.
Must have good understanding of product positioning and competitive conditions within 3 months of hire date.
Must have knowledge of sales and marketing techniques and principles within 3 months of hire date.
Experience Required: Previous sales experience is desired but not required. See ?REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE?.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate a motor vehicle.
Physical Strength: Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent local and regional travel.
MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization.
Able to interpret various instructions.
Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret graphs.
Language Ability: Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation.
Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs.
Ability to communicate in complex sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses; using a good vocabulary.
