Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant Job Opening in Salt Lake City, Utah - In business for over 60 years, Sentinel Security Life Insurance Company is a rapidly growing insurer of life, accident, health and Medicare supplement insurance as well as underwriting annuities and other financial products. We are currently seeking an Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant to be responsible for the receipt and accounting of funds received by the organization. This individual insures that proper accounting procedures are followed to account for the receipt of funds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Applies customer payments for multiple companies
Researches and solves payment discrepancies
Prepare daily deposits
Verify ACH transmissions
Monitor ACH Fraud Filter
Verify Lockbox Activity and respond to discrepancies
Review positive pay exceptions
Prepares daily cash report
Prepares daily premium posting journal entries for multiple companies
Prepares monthly prepaid expense journal entries and reconciliation
Prepares monthly credit card journal entries and reconciliation
Interacts and responds to other department requests timely and accurately
Reconcile Multiple Suspense Accounts timely and accurately
Additional Monthly Account Reconciliations as assigned
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Experience, Education & Skills
Ideal applicants will also have a Bachelor?s degree in accounting with two to three years on the job experience.
Experience in corporate accounting.
Experience in statutory accounting and reinsurance is desired.
Possess high attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Ability to perform intermediate accounting functions and responsibilities requiring general supervision.
Ability to comprehend and interpret regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Advanced Excel knowledge required.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures in the insurance industry a plus.
