Accountant/Senior Accountant Job Opening in Boston, Massachusetts - Neurala, Inc. () is a software company located in Seaport District of Boston, MA that developed The Neurala Brain? Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant/Senior Accountant is responsible for the complete and timely processing of journal entries, analysis of general ledger account activities and other monthly closing activities. This position also entails research in response to field inquiries, analyzing financial information as part of the financial reporting process, and performing other general accounting and analytical duties as requested by upper management. This position will also assist in the annual audit process, primarily involving additional supporting documentation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, expense reporting and journal entries
Oversee benefits administration and bi-weekly payroll.
Creation of monthly operating reports setting forth results against budget.
Actively assist in annual budget process
Responsible for daily operations of the finance department.
Prepare periodic reports as requested by management
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements for governmental contracts.
Actively participate in developing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures, and implementation of same.
Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
Assist in the design and implementation of the Company?s ERP systems, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor?s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a Four-Year College or University;
Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Working knowledge of Quickbooks and other automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations preferred, though not mandatory.
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Strong business acumen and professionalism, excellent presentation skills with solid communication skills both verbal and written
Strong attention to detail skills is mandatory.
