Senior Accounting Consultant Job Opening in Boston, Massachusetts - Job Summary and Highlights:
This is a great opportunity to work with an up and coming, publicly traded, clinical stage biotech. They are seeking an extremely strong accountant who can handle day to day operations, but who is ideally able to assist in more technical areas such as financial reporting/SEC filings, fixed assets, SOX compliance, accruals, etc. Experience in all areas is not required, but strongly preferred. This person may have held a title ranging from Senior Accountant, Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager, however this person should be comfortable being a hands on individual contributor.
Basic Job Functions and Accountabilities:
Perform monthly financial close activities including update and maintenance of the General Ledger, analysis of account variances and reporting of results to management.
Perform weekly Revenue, Orders, and Backlog reporting to management.
Coordinate and maintain monthly accruals and standard journal entries.
Perform monthly analysis of general ledger account variances and reconcile changes.
Assist in month-end closing activities, including departmental expenses, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger accrued accounts.
Performs daily revenue and cost transaction posting.
Assist in the preparation of internal and external reporting packages
Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and compliance.
Assist in the development and preparation of the Annual Operating Plan and site forecast
Performs account analysis support to the Accounting Manager & Finance Director.
Perform other accounting duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications and Experience:
BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
5+ years accounting experience
Knowledge of GAAP Accounting Principles
Proficiency in Excel
NetSuite Experience a plus
Life Science industry experience a plus, but not required
This opportunity is a long-term consulting engagement with a growing, publicly traded, clinical stage life sciences company in Boston. This is slated as a long-term need for the company and this person may have the opportunity to stay on with the company depending on company performance/future needs. Pay is flexible and commensurate with experience.
