Financial Analyst/Jr Accountant Job Opening in Central Islip, New york - Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. (LISH) is a comprehensive network of community health centers under a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model. We provide Article 16 and 28 clinic services at 8 locations across Suffolk County, New York.
LISH is currently searching for a Financial Analyst/Jr Accountant who will report to the CFO. We are looking for an individual who understands finance systems and reimbursement, including healthcare insurance/billing with a focus on Medicaid, PPS, APG and value based reimbursement. A successful candidate will be confident and possess strong analytical and technical skills. Must have experience working with a GL, produce journal entries, and understand the monthly closing process. Must have an ability to learn evolving revenue issues. The candidate should have an appetite for learning and embracing challenges as they will be mentored to grow with the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Gather, organize, and interpret financial data from all sources and ensure accurate cost reporting.
Identify variances and business gap areas that require senior management?s attention.
Assist in maintaining the general ledger and devote time to risk management, especially accounts receivable and compliance.
Prepare financial reports with reliable conclusions that management can use to implement more effective operational strategies including variance and reimbursement rate analysis.
Assist in the developing forecasting models for revenue and expenditures.
Create and write financial reports to help streamline processes and assure real time reporting.
Assist in identifying business improvement initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required in Finance, Accounting, Information Science, or Business Administration. Other certifications in IT or Billing preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting in a healthcare environment ? ideally an A28 clinic/FQHC, healthcare network, or hospital preferred. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data accurately with the ability to translate it to actionable terms. Experience working with accounting and business intelligence systems including Microsoft Dynamics GP, Cognos, Precision, and similar platforms. Familiarity with Patient Financial Services. Advanced data mining and financial analytics including Excel power user, Access, and advanced understanding of technology as it relates to business.
