Regional Sales Manager Job Opening in Irvine, California - The Company
NH Research located in Irvine, California is a well-established, worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and sale of power electronics test instruments and test systems for the past 40 years. The Company also has an office in Shenzhen, China where it sells, services and sources some of the parts used in its products.
* This position is based in Irvine and reports to the National Sales Manager. Territory is the Eastern Region of the U.S.
The Products
There are two broad categories of products: test instruments and automated test systems. Instruments include programmable DC electronic loads, AC sources, DC sources and Power Analyzers. Automated Test Systems include PC-controlled DC power supply testers and high-power battery testers. Product prices range from $5,000 to $80,000 and with multiple quantities, orders sometimes reach over $1,000,000.
Customers
The majority of our customers are manufactures of power conversion devices that require some type of automatic system to either characterize new designs or check their production units for specification conformance. Defense contractors make up 25% of the Company?s business. A significant portion of the business comes from repeat customers.
Sales Channels
NH Research sells its products through independent technical sales representatives located both in the US and overseas. Over the years this group of sales reps has been selectively upgraded and now plays a key role in identifying and closing new business opportunities.
Primary RSM Activities
The RSM interfaces between the Company and both Sales Reps and Customers. Initial sales activity typically focuses on discussions relating to understanding the customer?s test requirements and the suitability of NHR equipment to meet those test requirements. 70% of this discussion is highly technical as the initial customer contact is usually a test engineer. Beyond the first level technical discussions are normal sales activities involved with selling high-value capital equipment including proposal preparation and establishing personal relationships with both Purchasing and Management. Product demonstrations and benchmarks play a key role in the selling process and, depending on complexity, are performed by either the RSM or Application Engineers.
Qualifications
BSEE
Test engineering background with power electronics experience
Proven sales or applications experience
Willingness to travel throughout the Eastern US States and occasionally to major trade shows in other parts of the Country (approx. 20 to 25%)
Ability to multi-task, highly organized
Team player
