Medical Records Clerk Job Opening in Clinton Township, Michigan - POSITION SUMMARY : Provide oversight of the medical records department and assists in maintaining an orderly and efficient administrative office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous medical records and office management experience
Excellent computer and communication skilled
Possess an understanding of the various programs that operate within the facility
Basic computer knowledge
Valid Michigan Chauffeur License and approved by The Salvation Army MVR
T. B. test and police clearance required
JOB DUTIES
Maintain computer database of admissions and discharges daily
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, and Email
Experience using Electronic Medical Records systems preferred
Copy and distribute client census logs daily to clinical staff
Send letter to the Department of Human Services each Monday with all discharges from the previous week
Close and audit all program charts, including periodic auditing of open charts
Maintain charts in an orderly fashion
Maintain historical record of bed census sheets
Oversee the process of old file storage on a yearly basis
Respond to medical requests in a timely and appropriate manner
Order and maintain stock of medical forms
Understand and work within The Salvation Army and Harbor Light Mission Statements.
Possess an excellent working knowledge of The Harbor Light Policies and Procedures
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
HIPAA - Level 1 access to Clinical Records
DEMANDS:
Ability to lift 10 pounds
Frequent sitting for long periods of time.
The ability to hear and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Ability to use a computer keyboard and or handwrite.
Capability to use standard office machines like copiers and fax machines.
