Supervising Senior Accountant- 7529 Job Opening in Newark, New jersey - Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is currently seeking a Supervising Senior Accountant for its Finance Department. The Supervising Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for assisting the Controller with maintaining basic fiscal control, accounting, and report procedures, and overseeing all aspects of the department, including budgets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, grants management, and cash management. The Supervising Senior Accountant assists with the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of the financial data, and supervises senior accountants, accountants, clerks, and other finance personnel. Other job duties include consulting on the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes; reviewing balance sheets, general ledger accounts, and income statement schedules; recommending improvements to general accounting activities so as to ensure compliance with governmental and organizational procedures and policies; devising and implementing process improvements to promote effectiveness; and administering personnel-related functions, including directing the work of senior accountants.
The ideal candidate should possess the following abilities and skills:
Strong analytical and communication skills
Excellent knowledge and proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows and PowerPoint, and Microsoft Access
Ability to rapidly learn and use the Agency?s data financial system to ensure timely and accurate closings of the Agency?s financial system
Ability to work closely with program managers to ensure accurate reporting of transaction according to approved internal and government budgets
Proven ability to develop and train people on how to prepare and use financial spreadsheets, statements, and reports
Strong team player with ability to interact with all levels of staff within the Agency
Strong ability to create systems for operational efficiency
This position requires the following:
Bachelor?s Degree in accounting or a related field required
Minimum of five years of experience in a professional accounting, business management, and/or auditing setting that demonstrates an understanding of generally accepted accounting and auditing principles required
*Two years of supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
