Staff Accountant Job Opening in Houston, Texas - Streamline reporting, forecasting and analysis to drive superior decision-making; identify areas that provide low value and work to reallocate resources to provide more meaningful information for decision support.
Take ownership in your work and in the finance function.
Assist in developing financial plans and financial models.
Set-up and maintain an operating and control system for a growing business.
Produce monthly financial statements and analysis for review by the President and Controller.
Produce budget and forecast analysis.
Consolidate and analyze 13-week cash forecasts.
Provide oversight for intercompany loan tracking and accounting.
Support year-end audit.
Support implementation, migration or upgrades of financial systems.
Maintain daily bank deposits, monthly reconciliation and wire transfers.
Perform A/R collection activity and reporting, along with A/P oversight.
Prepare bid information.
Prepare contractual true ups for revenue vs expense.
Prepare contractual Accruals for expense per contract.
Payroll support and oversight.
Provide management with applicable reports and analysis daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
Directly supervise 2 or more employees in the Finance department.
Train employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
Lead, manage and hold team accountable for agreed upon results and develop team members through all levels of responsibility.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Knowledge and skill requirements
Must be a strong and organized leader with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required. Specific requirements include:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus.
Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in accounting in companies providing industrial services serving a diverse set of markets, multiple customers and offering a broad set of mechanical maintenance and construction services.
Percentage of Completion accounting experience required.
GAAP experience a must.
Proven ability to generate and analyze income statement, balance sheet, revenue forecast and cash flow statements.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in fast-paced, results oriented environment.
Skilled at Microsoft Excel.
