Commodity Buyer Job Opening in Plymouth, Michigan - TITLE: BUYER
DUTIES:
Manage a given set of components towards achieving Purchasing KPIs (Quality, Delivery, Price and Supplier Development)
Develop purchasing commodity strategies and action plans
Interact and exert influence over the Global Purchasing team in Japan
Work directly with internal customers () when determining component costs for potential new business bids
Monitor supply base performance and provide feedback on a regular basis
Lead all forms of negotiations with managed suppliers
Identify, qualify, recommend, and manage suppliers according to the company policies and requirements
Prepare fact-based analysis to support negotiations and sourcing decisions
Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders
Participate in APQP meetings and follow up during all stages of the part development process
Input and maintain procurement records (RFQs, quotations, annual capacity surveys, supplier development surveys, non-disclosure agreements, supplier recommendations, etc.) according to company policies
Serve as focal point to address and escalate supplier issues
Work with stakeholders and suppliers to identify cost reduction opportunities
Work with Accounting and the supply base to resolve invoice discrepancies, tooling payments and any other related accounts payable issues
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration required.
3-5 years of experience in procuring parts for automotive applications ? preferably with metallic materials and components ( components, tubing, aluminum and steel raw materials).
Experience identifying and developing suppliers.
Experience with cost and tooling breakdown and analysis.
Experience with commodity strategies and APQP process.
Knowledge of PPAP process.
Previous exposure to global cross-functional teams.
ERP Experience, PLEX is a plus.
Medium to advanced skills with Excel and Power Point applications.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and basic understanding of GD&T.
Organized, detailed and collaborative work ethic.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Japanese as a second language is a plus.
Must be willing to travel independently (up to 25%) primarily domestically with potential international travel.
Must be willing to support conference calls outside of normal business hours with colleagues
internationally on occasion.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,000.00 to $75,000.00 /year
