Position Description
We currently have an opportunity for a Purchasing Manager. This position is responsible for oversight of the Purchasing function including vendor management, purchasing and delivery of all materials, supplies and equipment. Use company buying power in negotiating with suppliers to obtain the best value and service guarantee.
Additional duties include but are not limited to:
Understand and demonstrate company culture known as ?The Pinnacle Way? in all internal and external business functions.
Negotiate and renegotiate contracts with suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability and reliability, production, and distribution capabilities; evaluate their capability in performing to established expectations based on reputation and history.
Study sales records and inventory levels of current materials to develop strategic purchasing programs that facilitate access to materials and supplies.
Keep abreast of changes affecting supply and demand; track market conditions, price trends and future markets.
Identify opportunities for policy and process improvements; establish and adhere to purchasing policies, processes, and ensure compliance.
Oversee requisition process and collaborate with department managers to fill purchase requests.
Review Purchase Orders and allocation of costs ensuring accurate processing of paperwork.
Authorize and issue Return Merchandise Purchase Orders when necessary and notify accounting department of transaction.
Investigate and resolve purchasing issues in a timely manner; follow up on undelivered goods and expedite shipments as necessary.
Oversee materials management and flow of inventory; monitor inventory shortages and discrepancies and determine course of action for defective or unacceptable materials and supplies.
Maintain a clean work environment and ensure efficient organization of inventory for stocking and retrieving materials.
Ensure safe and timely delivery of materials and supplies to departments, customers and work sites.
Follow up with Production and Departments to ensure materials are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
Participate in department meetings to provide status updates on materials and delivery schedule, discuss pending issues with team members and evaluate processes.
Attend trade shows to learn of industry trends and make contacts with suppliers; develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.
Seek out competitive pricing from multiple sources of approved suppliers; research and identify new supply sources when current suppliers do not meet expectations.
Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and internet sites to locate necessary goods and services; monitor promotional pricing and incentives to ensure optimal savings.
Oversee and manage the Purchasing team to meet performance and deadline expectations.
Engage in regular performance assessment of the Purchasing team using competencies that tie back to individual and organizational success.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Position Skills and Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. College degree preferred. Minimum three years of supply management experience is preferred. Must possess a valid Class E driver license, have a good driving record, and able to be approved as a covered driver under the commercial insurance policy.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail oriented in completing a pre-established flow of paperwork, documentation and standard operating procedures with a knowledge and understanding of legal, financial, and commercial terms.
