Tax Specialist Job Opening in Denver, Colorado - Key Purpose
The Tax Specialist is responsible for the timely review, processing and resolution of tax documents in compliance with Fannie Mae/PEMCO guidelines
Primary Responsibilities
Identification and Reconciliation of Taxes on Assignments
Conduct due diligence to determine whether an asset for each Case Assignment is governed by one or more Taxing Authorities
Obtain all current and past due tax bills and any additional supporting documentation
Perform audit of tax bill for validity inclusive of pre-foreclosure and post foreclosure sums and assess cost to attributing parties
Timely submission of fully audited and support payment requests to accounting for processing
Recommend tax appeals and or negotiation on balances in excess of delegated amounts and or adverse to existing statutes
Determine if any risk of tax sale exists and expedite case with supporting documents to management to prevent sale and potential lien
Daily management of pipeline of existing case assignments and new case assignments ensuring timely resolution and SLA achievement
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required
Real Estate License or Certification a plus
Knowledge of property law, statutes and applicable regulations is a plus
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy
Detail oriented and self-motivated, with excellent organizational skills
Self-starter with online research with a strong ability to multi-task while working with multiple websites
Organizational skills with a demonstrated capacity to handle large volumes of work with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and must be able to deliver a clear and understandable message to a variety of industry partners including taxing authorities, selling agents, listing agents, closing agents and operational staff
Must be able to work in a team environment based on shared responsibilities that determine success ratios
A strong sense of urgency about solving problems, meeting challenging deadlines, and achieving critical goals
