Accounting Manager Job Opening in Baltimore, Maryland - Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager will possess strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement close processes, and play a key role in the accounting department. This role will be responsible for the management of accounting operations that is necessary to support the business and satisfy external reporting requirements. The Accounting Manager will oversee monthly close process and ensure the accurate recording of all accounting activities within the general ledger system as well as providing ongoing support to the Director of Accounting to implement an internal controls framework and will be responsible for ensuring adherence for the team. Additionally, the Accounting Manager is responsible for continually assessing, motivating and coaching their accounting team as sell as establishing excellent rapport with leadership and external parties.
Primary duties:
-Manage the monthly close process and ensure all deadlines are met on a consistent basis.
-Responsible for the financial statement consolidation process of multiple entities, including foreign currency translation and ensuring proper intercompany accounting and eliminations.
-Manage and review monthly balance sheet reconciliatioins for completeness and accuracy and ensure they are completed timely.
-Assist management by overseeing the monthly variance analysis review by comparing actual and prior period results.
-Research technical accounting topics and draft position papers and internal accounting memos that pass audit review.
-Interact regularly with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Project Accounting groups to facilitate the implementation of accounting policies, procedures and workflows across the teams.
Skills/Experience:
The successful candidate will have a BS in Finance, Accounting or related field of study; MBA or CPA preferred with 7 or more years of applicable experience and thorough knowledge of US GAAP and proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel. A proven, demonstrated leader with effective communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is also needed.
