Senior Accountant Job Opening in Annapolis, Maryland - Job Title: Senior Accountant
Reports To: Controller
General Purpose: Responsible for performing complex reconciliations to include, but not limited to: general ledger and budget data; monitoring accounts; determining the necessity for and processing of documentation to effect changes to accounts; and preparing schedules and other related financial data for the College?s annual financial statements. Major responsibilities include general ledger accounting, regular reconciliation of designated accounts and preparation and analysis of budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with budget preparation and review.
Review checks/ach transactions weekly;
Complete monthly analysis of budget expenditures to identify potential budget variances and budget trends;
Work with budget managers when expenditures have exceeded budget or budget manager questions (excluding salaries);
Prepare monthly gift reconciliation for all funds;
Oversee debt service management and reconciliation;
Track and reconcile all activity monthly in the Plant Fund and prepare transmittal documents for annual capital assets inventory and depreciation;
Oversee the monthly recording of credit card expenses and ask as liaison between credit card company and employees;
Coordinate preparation of all end of year tax forms (1098, 1098-T, 1099)
Assist in preparation of financial reports for BVG meetings;
Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, as assigned;
Record and reconcile investment activity monthly;
Assist with yearly close out of funds in accounting system;
Assist with the annual audit and tax preparation and other annual financial reports;
Prepare and process monthly health, life and plant allocations
Special project planning and analysis and backup to other Business Office functions, as required

Bachelor's degree in accounting with three to five years? position-related experience and/or training; knowledge of and ability to work with accounting software. Higher education or non-profit experience preferred. Ability to prioritize work with a sense of urgency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong problem-solving and follow-up skills. Ability to work well with St. John?s College community.

Salary: $52,168.76 to $57,385.64 /year
