Cost Accountant / Inventory Accountant Job Opening in Ruston, Louisiana - Position Summary:
The Cost / Inventory Accountant is responsible for all facets of accounting for inventory and inventory costs. Supports the accounting function by ensuring proper development, maintenance, and reporting of financial data in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Works with accounting, sales and operations team members to ensure information is available for manufacturing and inventory planning, control and decision-making. Supports the Controller by reporting key metrics on inventory cost, with annual audit, and other duties as assigned.
Key :
Works closely with the Controller to ensure the accurate compilation, review, analysis and reporting of the Company?s inventory and inventory related costs.
Collaborate with Receiving, Operations, Sales and Purchasing Functions to understand processes to develop appropriate cost allocations for all product lines.
Compiles data needed for recording Inventory Receipts and Production.
Records Production and other production-related inventory transactions daily.
Reviews Inventory-related transactions for accuracy and reasonableness.
Develops metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers in COGS
Responsible for month-end close activities involving inventory valuations, including but not limited to preparing related account reconciliations.
Weekly and Monthly physical inventory observations and analysis.
Conduct periodic reviews for Obsolescence.
Participate in Implementing and Monitoring Accounting System Changes.
Assists Controller with month-end closing tasks including, but not limited to:
Preparation of Journal Entries and accruals based upon review and analysis of critical information.
Review Cost of Goods Sold for accuracy.
Running various audit trails to ensure appropriate controls are operating effectively.
Financial Analysis of revenue and COGS accounts
Prepares miscellaneous operational and financial reports as required by Management.
Adheres to all policies specified by Management, and all Safety Procedures and policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
BS Degree with 3+ years cost accounting experience, preferably in an average cost environment
CMA preferred
Experience with NetSuite a plus
Excellent Computer Skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Experience with Netsuite a plus
Detail Oriented, as products are serialized and typos can cause significant issues.

Ability to work independently and follow through with duties.
Ability to be detail oriented, yet understand top-level financials.
Coordinate workload to meet simultaneous deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $50,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year
