Plant Controller Job Opening in Blue Springs, Missouri - A world leader in specialty automotive parts, has engaged GSB Search to identify a Plant controller for the Kansas City area plant. This opportunity will provide financial direction on all aspects of the Kansas City Area plant. Supervise and coordinate financial reporting functions to insure accurate and timely reporting of the financial condition of the unit. Protect the assets of the business by insuring proper accounting controls are implemented. Keep management informed of operational conditions and trends and participate in decision making process to improve potential profitability of the business.
As a Manager and Leader at this company, you have the duty and responsibility for your actions and your team?s actions, meeting deliverables and objectives. You are also responsible to develop and confirm your team member?s competence by reactively and proactively training and coaching on how and why to work efficiently and effectively. Actively manage and participate in the development of your team and cross-functional work, establishing organizational and process changes. You are expected and have authority to temporarily stop any work or processes if safety, environment or quality is at risk.
During the first year on the job you will have the opportunity to:
Direct preparation of forecast, budgets, strategy plans, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
Plan and prepare for upgrade in ERP system, moving from FIFO to Standard Cost System.
Ensure proper financial reporting, controls and policies exist. Protect corporate assets through inventory record accuracy, asset audits and G/L reconciliations.
Provide timely and insightful financial analysis to management that drives improved decision-making (monthly reporting of performance results/KPIs, variance analysis, monthly financial forecasts, heavy cost analysis, etc.).
Liaise and coordinate the hard close and year end process for the plant with North America finance management and local auditors
Communicate with Plant Manager / Local Department Managers to increase their knowledge and understanding of financial statements.
As required, assist other plant locations to review financial information, perform audit work or observe operational processes. Work with other locations to ensure intercompany activities are coordinated and reported accurately.
Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
Support, encourage, and participate in continuous improvement activities, such as Lean Manufacturing.
Participation in internal and external corrective and preventative activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A) from four-year college or university with a preference for major in accounting
Minimum of 7 years accounting management experience, with at least 4 years controller experience or equivalent work experience.
Significant expertise in financial reporting and analysis, cost accounting, inventory control, and accounting procedures.
Experience working with and advising local management and senior management on financial issues.
Above average experience with Microsoft Excel and Manufacturing ERP Software
