Software Engineer Job Opening in Norman, Oklahoma - Exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer to join Centuria?s team of 55 scientists, meteorologists, engineers and IT experts to provide infrastructure engineering design, development, implementation, production, installation, and integration support to the National Weather Service (NWS) Next Generation Radar (NEXRAD) Radar Operations Center (ROC) in support of nearly 200 Doppler weather radars that provide critical tornado and severe weather warning observations across the Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Azores, and Korea. The team is involved in every phase of the software lifecycle across business and technical applications. They also provide facility support, program management, and quality assurance. This contract involves customer touch points within NWS, Department of Transportation, and the Air Force.
This position is located in the Applications Branch of the Radar Operations Center at the National Weather Center in Norman, OK.
The selected candidate shall apply knowledge of computer and electronics engineering to support operations and maintenance of NWS Wind Profilers and other radar product generation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Meteorology.
3+ years? experience in software programming with at least 3 of following program languages/Operating Systems: C/C++, Java, Python, Unix/Linux
Perform engineering and requirements analysis for an advanced weather radar systems and subsystems.
Determine, review, analyze and estimate costs for software and hardware development and modification.
Implement changes to the software baseline, updating design and technical documentation, updating software specifications, and participating in all associated testing activities.
Participate in reviews, meetings and technical interchanges regarding the software baseline.
Comply with engineering procedures.
Work with automated tools for software and configuration management.
