POSITION: Chief Executive Officer
Summary
Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Community Place of Greater Rochester (CPGR) is responsible for the leadership, direction, and management of the entire Agency and its staff. The CEO is accountable for directing the Agency?s growth and employing best practices to secure the financial resources and human capital required to achieve its goals. The CEO establishes a clear vision for the future of the organization and ensures the provision of cost-effective, high-quality developmental and social programs and services to residents in the Rochester, New York, community.
Essential Job Responsibilities
This position serves as Chief spokesperson for the organization and principal contact to the media, governmental agencies, and political interest groups on a local, state and national basis. Cultivation of viable grant and alternative fund-raising sources is an essential function of the CEO as is the nurturing of mutually beneficial community collaborations. The CEO will strive to achieve organizational objectives that are developed in concert with the Chief Operation Officer (COO), the board of directors, professional staff, and volunteers in accordance with its strategic plan, policies, procedures, and standards.
The CEO will be responsible for a broad array of management, fundraising, and program duties identified below.
Expansion of local and state resources through the creation and implementation of a development plan designed to increase CPGR funding sources. Development activities include:
Responsible for implementing the annual appeal and soliciting sponsorships
Oversee all special events (Art of Giving, Photo Finish 5K, etc.)
Schedule and facilitate all agency committee meetings
Attendance at scheduled collaboration meetings (e.g. UW executive mtg., ICircle Board meeting, OPWDD VAAB meetings, Council of Agency Executives, Rochester-Syracuse Alliance with Hillside, Settlement House Foundation meetings, etc.)
Ensure development and implementation of the organization?s Strategic Plan and Business Plan.
Responsible for Strategic Relationship Building as follows:
Establish and help maintain effective relations with Federal, County, New York State and private funders who are responsible for providing regulatory and financial support for the agency
Point of contact for the Settlement House Foundation, United Way, Alliance for Children and Family and other community partners
Supervise the public policy activities of the organization and serve as one of the organization?s legislative advocates through the development and maintenance of positive relationships with legislators
Provide meaningful support and maintain strong positive relationships with the local community centered on skills-building, technical support, and/or a variety of organizational problem-solving activities
Appraise the performance of the management team on an annual basis, providing specific written feedback to individuals; follow through with any necessary corrective action
Serve as the primary staff member to the Board of Directors and all Board Committees
Develop on-going policy recommendations to the Board of Directors
In partnership with the COO and Executive Committee, develop the Agency?s annual budget for Board approval
Direct CPGR?s future growth and fulfillment of the Agency?s vision and mission
Oversight for the entire administration of CPGR in accordance with its by-laws, policies and procedures
Perform other activities as assigned by the Board of Directors
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven cultural competency and experience in both working with and fostering diversity
Expertise in the cultivation, research and solicitation of a full spectrum of donors and new and existing sources of funding
The ability to provide overall leadership, direction, and management of CPGR in conjunction with the COO and Board of Directors
Excellent public speaking skills in order to promote the agency through local media and public forums
Experience in managing and directing agency- and program-related public relations, marketing and advocacy efforts.
Knowledge of basic procedures related to the financial oversight and the ability to understand and oversee the preparation the Agency?s budget for Board review on an annual basis with monthly updates
Ability to oversee the recruitment, training and retention of competent staff and volunteers
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage competing goals and priorities
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
The ability to work with the board of directors and volunteers with the goal of leveraging volunteer/board contacts and time to foster the Agency?s mission and objectives
Required Qualifications
Master?s degree in management, leadership or related field
5-7 years of progressive senior management experience
Non-profit environment management experience in a multi-faceted human services organization
Official transcripts, names of three (3) references, and a background check will be required as a condition of hire
