Project Accountant Job Opening in Columbia, Maryland - The Wisdom Group is seeking an experienced Finance Professional to join our team as Project Accountant/Analyst for the North America Solutions business. Based in Columbia, Maryland, this person will be responsible for financial analysis of one or more of our Application Centers within our project-based business, including serving as a key financial resource for business leaders. Previous experience with multinational organizations, management of complex projects, percentage of completion accounting, strong analytical skills as well as solid written and verbal communication skills will be critical to this individual?s success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, performed under the direction of the Head of Business Support ? North America Solutions include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Establish constructive relationships with the North America Solutions Leaders and Key Business Partners in Sales and Project Execution (Application Center).
Coordinate with Application Center Leaders to translate project plans, resources and timelines into financial forecasts that are aligned with the global business area, regional roll-ups and overall corporate
Analyze the Application Center performance, including monitoring key performance indicators, such as revenue, cost of sales and
Schedule Project Reviews according to global project controlling guidance (risk &
frequency) and communicate status of reviews versus the schedule.
Collaborate with Project Managers to:
Ensure comprehensive budgets (including change orders), cost recognition and estimates for completion are updated and accurate within the applicable ERP and other applicable
Maintain project financials including gross margin, billing plan, overdue receivables, cost of complete, cost overruns, percentage of completion, risks & contingencies, change orders and accruals
Evaluate project cash flow versus planned cash flow model within contract and escalate significant deviations for
Capture, summarize and report quarterly revenue forecast, cash flow forecast, risks and related mitigation
Communicate key risk areas or projects requiring Application Leader focus to Application Leader and Head of Business
Coordinate with intercompany partners to ensure timely documentation and accounting for percentage of completion on project-related intercompany purchases.
Coordinate with Shared Services team to facilitate transactional processing, timely vendor invoice processing, customer billing, collections and accurate financial records
Coordinate with Solutions Accounting team to ensure timely and accurate monthly close and financial ledgers, including percentage of completion revenue recognition and project related
Continually improve financial and business processes to increase efficiency, effectiveness and process sustainability
Reduce waste by automating repetitive tasks through the use of available systems and Office tools
Provide finance expertise to assist others in understanding financial information
Continually develop industry and company knowledge as well as project management skills and technical expertise
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

3+ years of progressive responsibility in any of the following functions: finance, accounting or audit, with a minimum of 1 year of financial planning & analysis responsibility, demonstrating the ability to execute complex analysis, prepare comprehensive, clear, concise and action-oriented
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting (strongly preferred) or Finance, demonstrating a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial analysis principles (IFRS knowledge a significant plus)
Strong leadership skills, ability to influence Senior Management
Strong working knowledge of ERP/Financial Systems & Applications
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills required
Microsoft Dynamics or SAP (preferred)
Access or other multi-dimensional analysis experience (able to build a relational database and queries) a plus
Strong data analysis experience, demonstrating the ability to understand business needs, obtain & validate data, interpret results, root cause anomalies and generate meaningful results
Percentage of Completion Accounting Experience (strongly preferred)

Finance or accounting professional certification, such as a CPA is a plus
Solid time/project management skills and demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks
Articulate, with effective written and verbal communication skills as well as polished, executive presence
Travel Required: Minimal (10%)
