Accounting Manager Job Opening in Rockville, Maryland - The Accounting Manager will be responsible for providing financial and business analysis support for RIFE International. The position requires experience in government contracting and construction. The role will lead all accounting, financial forecasting and analysis activities for the company. The role requires a highly motivated and result-oriented individual with strong analytical skills, who should be comfortable with ambiguity, and use data-driven analysis to draw actionable insights and influence decision-makers. The position provides leadership and coordination in the operational accounting and related budgeting activities of the division and ensures that reported results comply with GAAP. The position leads all financial administration and fiscal management of the business and communicates any potential profitability or risk to the President.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Manage the general ledger, monthly closing process and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Perform a variety of accounting and finance duties including A/R, A/P, Payroll, reconciliations, assisting with financial analysis, and budgeting.
Establish and manage accounts with vendors and finance institutions.
Review operational and construction budgets and analyze variances against budget and prior months? costs Design and issue regular reporting to project managers and President.
Provide proactive analytics and reporting to improve forecasting, align results, draw insights and influence action
Analyze and develop new metrics/reports, looking for trends and discrepancies
Make suggestions regarding process improvements and assist with the implementation of new systems
Guide, coach, and develop accounting and team members to support growth of business unit accounting
IDEAL KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor?s Degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or Business required; CPA or MBA a plus
A minimum of 5 years of accounting or financial analyst experience with a sound understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
Previous Government contracting accounting experience
Previous financial and GL accounting experience in analyzing balance sheets, income statements and overall profitability required
Previous experience within construction industry preferred. QuickBooks Pro and Contractor version, Timberline (Sage 300), ODBC, Office Connector, and Crystal Reports experience a plus
Advanced experience in Microsoft Windows Applications, including the use of Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Macros, and other functions to export & analyze monthly operational data
Collaborative team player with strong intellectual curiosity
Proven capability of driving standardization of financial processes and continuous process and performance improvement
Solid business acumen and ability to interact and communicate with all levels of Management within the Division
Knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Understanding of General Ledger accounting and experience with full P&L analysis
Demonstrated strong project management skills, including ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and follow through on completion of high-profile projects
Keep up-to-date on technology trends, developments & best practices
An affinity with numbers; inherent aptitude to quantify and support conclusions with data.
