Summary -
The Surgical Technologist is an allied health professional, who functions as an integral part of a team of medical practitioners providing surgical care for to patients. Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct on invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that the equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions to maximize patient safety. The Technologist possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique, in combinations with knowledge human anatomy, surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and implementation tools and technologies, to facilitate the physician's performance of surgical procedures.
Background -
Minimum one year experience in a hospital or other healthcare setting is preferred.
