Bookkeeper Job Opening in New York, New york - Description:
The Coalition for Behavioral Health, Inc. seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to assist in managing day-to-day accounting, financial and administrative operations. Excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer (member) service and communication skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
General bookkeeping including generating Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger using accounting software;
Assist Finance Director with various analyses including account reconciliations;
Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating and posting transactions;
Prepare invoices and post in accounting system;
Payroll experience a plus;
Maintains historical records by filing documents;
Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information & trends;
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions;
Updates agency-wide electronic databases, making additions, changes, corrections and modifications on an ongoing basis.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and proficiency in other Office applications;
Demonstrated use of financial accounting software (Fund EZ, Quickbooks, SAGE etc.);
Developing standards, analyzing information, dealing with complexity, reporting research results, data entry skills, accounting, confidentiality, thoroughness;
Ability to multi-task and be accommodating to changing priorities, high attention to detail;
A capable, self-starter that can navigate and meet multiple deadlines;
Effective communication skills: verbal, written and interpersonal.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or alternatively two years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
