Acute Care Nurse Manager Job Opening in Moab, Utah - Moab Regional Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for the Acute Care Nurse Manager position. This role provides general oversight of the Medical-Surgical (Acute) floor, skilled program, and outpatient nursing services (includes antibiotic infusions, chemo, etc.). This position also provides day-to-day supervision of the Medical-Surgical unit. Many responsibilities will focus on the management of, scheduling, and oversight for Med/Surge staffing (30-40 employees), including nursing assistants, licensed nurses, registered nurses, and case managers. This position is expected to work closely with other Nurse and Department Managers to help ensure the highest quality of care for patients of Moab Regional Hospital. Proposals for alternative management models will be accepted for consideration. This is a full-time, year-round, salaried position (40+ hours/week).
Outline of Duties
Solely responsible to schedule and coordinate staffing within Medical-Surgical department. Post availability calendar weekly.
Support effective interdepartmental communication and problem solving. Provide scheduling assistance to other departments (ED, OB, OR, etc.) when necessary.
Track and manage employee hours and allocations.
Maintain financial oversight of department, including monthly departmental financials, charge master review/revision, annual budgetary planning, related portions of the revenue cycle, etc.
Maintain inventory and medical equipment (IV pumps, telemetry, beds, etc.) oversight.
Provide employee evaluations, including competency evaluations, skills day(s), etc.
Assist HR with pertinent aspects of the hiring and disciplinary processes
Provide comprehensive orientation and on-boarding for new hires within the department
Participate in HCAHPS scores and improvement strategies
Support quality assurance activities and assignments (e.g. incident reports, patient complaints, etc.)
Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, and certification classes (e.g. BLS, ACLS, etc.)
Develop and maintain policies and procedures (inter- and intra-departmental).
Support accurate and timely reports and tracking of work-related injuries.
Support EHR utilization and Meaningful Use scores, including CPOE, medication reconciliation, transition of care, barcode medicine administration, etc.
Supplement direct patient care, as needed.
Participate in care planning (includes IDT for skilled patients)
Promote and maintain effective staff-provider relations
Participate regularly and constructively in the following meetings: Nurse Managers?, IDT, Department Managers?, Patient Care Services, Nurses?, Meaningful Use, and others as identified.
Participate in Nursing Administration call: 5-8 days/month, including one weekend per month and 1-2 holidays (includes Jeep Safari) per year. On-call and call-back wages are included in salary.

Qualifications
Active, unencumbered RN license in the State of Utah or compact state, required.
Minimum four years general medical-surgical nursing experience, required.
Ability to build, maintain, and lead a cohesive work unit in a positive and effective manner, required.
Prior experience and high level of comfort with electronic health records, required.
Supervisory experience and/or leadership roles in a medical setting, strongly preferred.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification, required.
Must be reliable and timely with work schedule.
Other duties as assigned.
