Sales Executive (Mid-Level) Job Opening in Milford, Connecticut - Willdan Energy Solutions (Willdan) is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of a mid-level Sales Executive. Willdan has experienced rapid growth and we are expanding into New England by establishing an office in Connecticut.
Willdan is one of the nation's preeminent providers of specialized energy, water, and resource management services to a growing list of clients that includes utilities, local and federal governments, hospitals, schools and private enterprises. Our portfolio of services includes marketing and engineering, program management and implementation of energy efficiency and water conservation programs and development and implementation of information systems for the energy industry. Willdan's expertise also covers equipment retrofits, commissioning and retro-commissioning, demonstrations of new technologies, energy efficiency education/outreach, sustainability strategy and local government partnerships.
The successful candidate will primarily focus on selling prospects into participating in a direct install program, which is targeted to commercial small to medium sized business customers. In addition, the Sales Executive will provide sales support on larger projects ( >500kW) facilities via C-Suite, facility managers and other key stakeholders.
The Sales Executive will be a key member of Willdan?s team, primarily responsible for developing and closing sales with small and mid-sized business customers within the context of a utility-sponsored direct install program. The ideal candidate will have B-to-B sales experience, preferably with small to mid-sized businesses, with an understanding of or the ability to come to speed quickly with respect to lighting and HVAC systems, how buildings use energy and potential energy efficiency improvement opportunities in commercial facilities.
Requirements:
3 to 6 years of sales experience required.
Demonstrated ability to development and present sensible value propositions to close sales with program participants is required.
Willingness to cold-call with track record of success. Ability to identify and develop sales leads.
Strong, demonstrated capabilities to educate and empower commercial and industrial and customers with respect to energy efficiency and other energy solutions and services.
Ability to prequalify customer eligibility for applicable utility programs, while providing insight and suggestions for energy efficiency -1 for 1 upgrades, subsidized by incentives available from utilities.
Experience and competence in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Significant (70-90%) travel, primarily within region. Must have a car, willing to prospect, network and cold call, to prospective public and private sectors, as well as utilities.
Desired traits include:
Strong, demonstrated capability to identify customer needs, persuade, and sell Willdan?s services with respect to the value proposition of energy efficiency.
General understanding of building systems and energy usage, associated with commercial and industrial facilities, along with the ability to identify potential lighting, HVAC, controls, and measures to increase energy efficiency.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and verbal and written communications skills. Ability to communicate effectively in-person or via email with a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders. Communication and persuasive skills are essential to reaching meeting sales expectations and project milestones.
Experience and/or familiarity with one or more commercial end-use sub-sectors including hospitals, data centers, commercial office buildings, municipal, education, industrial, and retail. Understanding of how energy usage, customer needs and issues vary among sub-sectors.
Understanding of and capability to utilize a customer relationship management (CRM) program.
