Fiber Laser Operator Job Opening in Warwick, Rhode island - Herff Jones Inc. is a world wide leader in rewarding academic and athletic excellence with world class symbols of achievements. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for a Fiber Laser Operator.
Job Summary:
Efficiently operate a Laser machine run by computer that utilizes two software packages for the task. The task is to deep-mark names and any customization required on raised blank panels on casted rings. This position requires you to set-up various ring designs that needs customization. There are finger-sized fixtures to hold the rings. A template will be utilized to fit to the customizable panel area using a program on the PC. Once the template is appropriated placed, the laser will be used to apply the customization.
Specific Responsibilities:
Operates production line computer-controlled Laser machine.
Responsible for quality control and making adjustments as necessary to produce quality deep-marked panels on rings within specifications. Reject deep-marked rings that are outside of specifications.
Responsible for reading and identifying information located on the shop copies.
Identify problems with production line machinery, whether it be computer-related or machine-related.
Ensure that orders are processed in a timely manner to meet manufacturing requirements and customer?s needs.
Operates within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
Completes daily production logs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/ GED equivalent suggested.
Ability to read and write in English is required.
Multi-tasking skills are required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellence organizational and recorded keeping skills are critical.
Good hand-eye coordination and a keen sense of attention to detail.
Proficient computers skills and ability to navigate in a Windows-based environment.
Ability to establish priorities and work independently.
Ability to determine material types and the difference it makes to laser cutting.
Ability to keep work environment clean, safe and orderly.
Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers and understand tolerances.
Ability to identify and communicate to management any machine or quality issues.
Ability to work in a team environment and open to change.
Ability to work overtime and on Saturdays during busy seasons.
Must complete a Safety orientation on the requirements for operating Laser machines in a safe manner, as well as, completing written test for complete understanding of the day to day operations.
Physical Demands:
Near Vision: The ability to see details at close range.
Control Precision: The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to get to the exact positions.
Manual Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
We offer a healthcare package including , as well as life and disability insurance beginning the first of the month following date of hire. 401K plan, Tuition Reimbursement, paid time off and holidays. This position is on first shift, generally 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with seasonal overtime including on Saturdays.
