Retail Sales Associate Job Opening in Birmingham, Alabama - Service Systems Associates, the exclusive service provider of Retail at the Birmingham Zoo, seeks individuals to join our EXTRAordinary Team!!!
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK MONDAY-SUNDAY 9AM-6PM This is a temporary/seasonal position for the Summer. High school and college students welcome!
Job Summary:
With an emphasis on customer self-choice sales, not all visitors need assistance from co-workers when dining at the concession stands or shopping at the gift shops. However, there is one situation when all zoo visitors need help from one of our co-workers -- at the registers. The goal of our cashiers is to provide efficient, good service to make sure every customer and visitor leaves with a good impression of the Birmingham Zoo. The cashier is part of the cash team and reports to the cash supervisor. The registers are where customers' perceptions, as well as their purchases, all come together. By providing fast, accurate and friendly service, cashiers make sure the impression that customers' leave with is a positive one.
To ensure guests leave the zoo with an overall positive experience, it is our responsibility to provide every guest with Extraordinary service.
To do this you must:
- be able to work 20-25 hours per week, including weekends and some evenings
- be able to work outside during all seasons
- be able to effectively work as part of a team, and independently
- be friendly, outgoing and have the ability to start and carry-on conversations with guests
- be willing to have fun and be silly!
Job Duties (including but not limited to):
- #1 priority is assisting guests and providing Extraordinary service
- adding-on items at the register
- engaging guests on the sales floor
- straightening and stocking
- daily housekeeping
Prior retail experience isn't necessary, but you must possess the combined skills and knowledge needed to understand and execute outstanding customer service with every guest in a fast paced and ever changing environment.
