Manager - Financial Reporting Job Opening in youngstown, Ohio - Manager - Financial Reporting THIS IS A FULL TIME, DIRECT HIRE POSITION The Manager of Financial Reporting is responsible for providing timely and accurate accounting and financial reports to executive management. The position is responsible for directing the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP (including the MD&A, footnotes, financial statements and other supplemental information). Major objectives of this position are to enhance existing reporting capabilities and to shorten the amount of time required to prepare financial reports and related schedules. The Manager will work closely with the legal, tax, and treasury and cost management functions as well as coordinate the Independent Auditors' review. This position provides excellent visibility to senior management. This position is charged with ensuring not only technical compliance with all appropriate accounting standards and reporting regulations, but also serving as a key corporate advocate for fairly presenting the performance and condition of the company through its financial statements. The Manager of Financial Reporting must be a person of high integrity and possess the ability to confidently take a position when appropriate. The position is responsible for providing strategic leadership in reporting matters while also serving as a technical resource. Responsibilities: � Manage preparation and review of consolidated and statutory financial statements. � Improve the processes related to and the timeliness of the Company's monthly and annual financial reports. � Prepare internal management reports for senior management and assist with preparation of presentations to the board of directors. � Provide accounting guidance and support to the global finance and accounting group, including guidance related to revenue recognition, purchase accounting, required asset impairment assessment, foreign currency translation, and intercompany reconciliation. � Research technical accounting matters and recommend best practices in financial reporting. � Assist in the development and maintenance of company-wide finance and accounting policies. � Identify new or emerging accounting and financial reporting issues; anticipate implications to the Company, research potential implementation issues and recommend process/accounting changes to senior management for approval; work with the Company's independent auditors to reach consensus on issues identified. � Oversee the implementation of new accounting standards in compliance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS. � Monitor and enhance the procedures related to the financial reporting process to ensure compliance with established internal controls procedures. � Coordinate with the budgeting group to help provide historical information, as needed, in preparation of the annual budget and re-forecasts. � Maintain Financial Reporting Calendar to ensure compliance with reporting-related deadlines. � Manage all external audit processes for the company's annual financial statements, employee benefit plans, Form 5500 filings and statutory filings. � Lead and develop the Financial Reporting Department. Assists in development of other accounting and finance associates, as needed. � Perform analytical assignments, special projects, and business analyses as an individual contributor, as needed. � Technical knowledge -- advanced understanding and strong technical knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting is required. Must possess ability to research, interpret and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP reporting requirements; able to apply accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices to a variety of financial and operating issues, reconcile conflicting data, and synthesize the relevant findings. � Communication and advocacy skills -- ability to develop and advocate accounting policies, processes, and procedures to senior management that lead to reporting outcomes that fairly represent the financial condition and performance of the Company. � Interpersonal skills -- through direct contact, able to develop and maintain rapport with others to ensure understanding and acceptance of accounting and financial reporting requirements; work effectively with independent auditors. Qualifications: � Bachelor's Degree in Accounting � CPA or MBA is a plus � At least five years of relevant accounting and/or reporting experience with a public company or a public accounting firm is required. � Three to five years of management experience is required. � Knowledge of SEC reporting standards is expected.
