Accountant Bookkeeper Job Opening in Collinsville, Oklahoma - Job Title: Accountant / Bookkeeper
Classification: Office Staff
Definition and Summary of Position: This position involves being the primary bookkeeper and oversees the financial processes and reporting for Discovery under the direction of the Executive Pastor. This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week.
Direct Report: Executive Pastor.
Primary Duties:
Banking Deposits when needed. Monthly Bank Reconciliations and occasional bank transactions as directed. ?
Yearly, Quarterly, Monthly, and Weekly Financial Reporting as required for various departments.
Assisting with Budgets and Forecasts as directed. ?
Paying bills, tracking automatic and online payments. ?
Monthly Staff and Ministry Departmental reimbursements, tracking receipts and filing. ?
Maintain organized Filing Systems, Office Equipment and Software updates. ?
Working within various online giving systems and entering contributions. ?
Bi-weekly Payroll of all staff, tracking paid time off, paying contract laborers; sending year-end statements as required. ?
Assisting Executive Pastor with Personnel Files and Human Resources as needed. ?
Year-end Contribution Statements, Payroll and Contract Labor Reports, Close-out Reconciliations. ?
Researching various Insurance needs and other yearly expense items to find the best product for the best price. ?
Assist with researching and setting up of new systems that will reduce time and expenses.
Assisting Executive Pastor with Risk Management of all assets. ?
Work with Receptionist and Sunday Counting Team on how they can assist you with bookkeeping duties. ?
Purchase and/or coordinate the purchasing of various items for staff. ?
Coordinate with Elders the signing of all checks if needed. ?
Work with outside CPA firm when needed. ?
Stay up-to-date on the matters of church finance and reporting requirements and seek continuing education when needed.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
Skills:
Interpersonal skills and relational IQ to work with leaders of the church.
The ability to be flexible and multi-task as needs arise.
Advanced knowledge of Accounting Practices
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks or equivalent bookkeeping software.
Meticulous in bookkeeping practices; an eye for detail.
Knowledge of church accounting practices and policies.
Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles.
Experience and Basic Qualifications Desired:
Prefer a Bachelors? Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 3-years? experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper. Experience in non-profit and specifically in church accounting is preferred. A minimum of 5-years? experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper may be substituted for a degree in accounting. You must be able to organize work effectively, have a general knowledge of church policies and procedures, and be efficient in prioritizing daily requested actions without supervision. You must have the ability to maintain in the strictest confidence all financial information and other confidential information as directed.
