Accountant (Construction Ind.) Job Opening in Long Island City, New york - Mechanical Contractor specializing in HVAC construction, installation and maintenance for the NY Tri-State area is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Accountant on a full time basis. The accountant will provide support to the accounting and payroll department for four different divisions and work directly under the Comptroller of the company.
Description:
Provide accounting and payroll support to four company entities.
Review and process invoices, bills, vouchers, cost code and verify transactions of entries
Summarize and post data to journals, ledgers and accounts
Reconcile bank accounts, checks, journal entries and other accounting records
Receive and match invoices to purchase orders, requisitions and receiving documentation.
Responsible for checking accuracy, scheduling of payments, processing invoices.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies with vendors, subs and company cost codes
Responsible in processing of time cards, timekeeping activities, manual checks and payroll balancing
Responsible for calculating and preparing hourly and salary payroll, deductions and any other garnishments.
Qualification:
Minimum 3 years? experience in accounting and payroll with a working background in a construction company
Ability to multi-task, work in a fast pace environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Should be well versed in computer usage and software such as Microsoft Office.
Experience with Sage software and ADP is a plus.
