Shipping & Receiving Manager Job Opening in Portland, Maine - We are looking to hire an ambitious, enthusiastic and professional Shipping & Receiving Manager to join our team. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative individual who is passionate about their work and driven to exceed expectations. The Shipping & Receiving Manager reports to the Director of Operations and will support the company's shipping and receiving functions including logistics, warehouse, as well as packaging and dry goods procurement and inventory management.
Job Description
This role requires a well-rounded team player with a monomaniacal focus on personnel safety, food safety (HACCP, GFSI), food quality, and operational efficiency. The Manager reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with colleagues in production, quality assurance, sanitation, sales, purchasing, finance, and human resources.
Aside from these internal relationships, the Manager also interacts with customers for day-to-day order fulfillment, vendors for pickup and storage, and at times, the general public. At all times and in all interactions the Manager is expected to represent the values and decisions of the company in a supportive and positive manner, and encourage others to do so as well.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Logistics: Coordinating the movement of all of the company?s products from point of purchase all the way to point of sale. Includes ocean, truck, and air freight. Also includes acquisition, maintenance, operation, and regulatory compliance of all trucking assets.
Warehouse: Responsible for storing and inventorying all of the company?s goods, and packing and preparing orders for shipment. This includes inside and outside storage, servicing local customers, and pick/packing orders to be handed over to Logistics.
Packaging and dry goods procurement and inventory: Responsible for purchasing, storing, and inventorying all dry goods and packaging.
Required Knowledge
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office.
Has a data-driven approach to management.
Able to make good decisions under pressure and de-escalate situations.
Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, and production methods.
Knowledge and understanding of industry standards including but not limited to SQF, MSC, HACCP, OSHA and FDA.
Knowledge of basic economic and accounting principles, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
Required Skills:
The Manager must demonstrate strong leadership qualities, management acumen, and written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Environmental Factors:
A standard office environment requiring the frequent use of computers and telephones would encompass several hours of each day. In addition, frequent time in the plant areas which involve wet floors, cool temperatures, and the presence of machinery and power lifts. Lifting of items up to 55 pounds on occasion is required.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent.
5-10 years of related experience and a track record of success.
