Summary
The Military Finance Specialist I provides military and veteran services support to the students, campuses and central administration in support of the mission, core values, and purposes of the university as defined by the university president and the board of governors.
Minimum Qualifications
The Military Finance Specialist I must satisfy the following minimum qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience with Department of Education Title IV.
Experience working with members of the military, preferred.
One-year prior finance or financial services experience with strong accounting background preferred
Basic knowledge of Veterans Administrations, Military Tuition Assistance and military spouse benefit programs, preferred
Ability to successfully pass a background check including being in good standing (not in default or overpayment) on all Title IV funds
Skills and Attributes
The Military Finance Specialist I must possess the following skills and attributes: strong counseling, communication, and customer service skills; ability to recognize subtle differences between similar situations and solve complex multi-faceted problems. Excellent attention to detail and follow up. Ability to analyze, interpret and apply complicated state, Department of Defense, Department of Education and federal guidance.
Required Work Hours
Forty hours per week during daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Scheduled work hours may change. Overtime may be required, or permitted with prior approval.
Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities
The Military Finance Specialist I reports to the Military Finance Specialist III.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
The Military Finance Specialist I must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, and bend.
Travel
Periodic travel, including airline travel and overnight stays, may be required.
