Director of Business Development Job Opening in Lyndhurst, New jersey - Under direction from the US SVP, a leadership role, which involves delivering a strategic and tactical approach to NEW business development for all US based agencies. Working closely with Ashfield Healthcare Communications SET leaders to deliver more new business opportunities to the group and higher pitch conversion. The role involves building new effective client relationships as part of a global sales and marketing team primarily for AHC but also cross-selling Ashfield divisional services.

US Pharmaceutical sales and marketing experience
Proven Healthcare communications new sales success
Self-starter who thrives on a high level of accountability
Experience in researching contacts and building lasting client relationships quickly
Experience of working within a medical communications agency in senior strategic role including leading, developing and winning new business pitches
Demonstrable ability and desire to create opportunities from scratch and present credentials and be the representative of Ashfield Healthcare Communications at pitch
Demonstrable ability and desire to drive new business growth in promotional and scientific healthcare communications and liaise effectively with internal pitch delivery teams
A strong, enthusiastic team player and leader to partner with senior business leaders, key account management and medical and scientific services teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities
Ability to coach internal teams where needed to deliver higher value and creative pitches to clients
Great at finding ?a reason to be there? ? demonstrate value to clients at the same time as creating opportunities for Ashfield Healthcare Communications
Client Relationship Development
Able to work within a matrix environment and profile appropriately with new clients to ensure strong relationships are maintained
Understand and challenge client/product strategy to identify needs and recommend solutions as part of pitch process
Understand product science and market insights across a range of therapies
Thorough understanding of clients and pharma industry environment and how it influences the pitch approach and future opportunities
Thorough knowledge of AHC offerings and how they will add value to client/product
Working knowledge of competitor agencies, their key strengths and potential divisional opportunities
Finance
Responsibility for achievement of agreed BD targets
Knowledge of client contracts (MSAs) and their operationalization
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor?s Degree (Master?s Preferred)
5+ years of Previous experience in Business Development within a Healthcare Communications Agency
