It?s an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional.
This position is primarily responsible for general accounting functions and the maintenance, accuracy and control of the accounting records. This position is also responsible for payroll, human resources, benefit administration, billing and budgeting, and policies and procedures for the organization.
Duties:
· Prepares the monthly and annual financial statements for GEC and Subsidiary in compliance with GAAP and FERC, and reports the results to the Board of Directors and upper management.
· Prepares budget schedules for revenues, depreciation and other special projects.
· Oversee the billing process for the wholesale power bill in accordance with rate schedules. Ensure monies are collected from members and wholesale power bills are paid on time.
· Manage banking relationships, coordinate line of credit renewals with CoBank and CFC. Monitor compliance with loan covenants for GEC subsidiary. Work on obtaining best rates for debt as well as investments.
· Oversees year-end audit, tax returns for GEC and subsidiaries, and prepare work-papers. Complete annual tax files for HR, Payroll, property, business, and 990.
· Responsible for HR functions, payroll, employee benefit plans and compliance and complete all year-end tax filings to maintain HR compliant.
· Ensures GEC and Subsidiary maintain adequate insurance.
· Develop financial forecasts, monitor equity and the overall financial condition of GEC and subsidiary.
· Develop corporate policies as needed and ensure that existing policies are complied with.
· Ensure GEC is in compliance with various regulatory acts such as HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, ERISA, OSHA, FLSA, EPA and all other applicable Federal or State laws.
· Oversees cash disbursement, accounts payable, cash receipts, and purchasing.
· Ensure accounting software is updated, and is the best to meet GEC?s needs. Oversees corporate IT structure, ensuring that network is running efficiently and securely and that documents are backed up.
· Provide opinions, analyses and recommendations to management and Finance Committee as necessary and have the ability to research and analyze account data when necessary.
· Prepares journal entries, both standard and non-recurring and ensure appropriateness, accuracy and validity.
· Compiles and analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected financial position.
· Reviews payment vouchers, invoices & petty cash documents processes to verify proper posting and balancing.
· Serves as backup for Executive Administrative Assistant
· All other job-related duties as assigned by management.
:
A Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or similar field of study from an accredited college is required, along with ten (10) years previous Utility Accounting experience. Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus. Must have documented hands-on experience in the use of QuickBooks or other similar accounting software programs. Human Resources and payroll experience is preferred. Completion of the RUS accounting course is preferred.
Ability to read financial reports and other work-related documents is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and have the ability to handle confidential information. Must be able to effectively present information to management and Board of Directors both verbally and in written form. Must be able to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Work Environment:
The duties of this job are performed indoors; sitting long hours at a desk using a computer. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
