JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Specialist is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the AboutHealth Quality & Efficiency work plan. The Specialist has a detailed understanding of improvement techniques to accomplish the project objectives. The Specialist uses performance improvement practices, uses project planning and management methods to implement changes; measures the extent of improvement achieved; converts data into useable information; facilitates group and team work; and assures that improvement activities are documented and reported. Promotes collaboration with the AboutHealth members and acts as an agent of change for the various improvement efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with Quality & Efficiency leadership to coordinate the various projects to completion
Assist in developing improvement events and project plans in collaboration with quality leadership and our members
Applies Project Planning and Management to effectively meet outcomes, time, and budget parameters. (Clarify purpose and scope, identify tasks, milestones and outcomes, define time frame and needed resources, enroll stakeholders, anticipate or resolve conflicts, define and execute the plan to completion, report results and lessons learned, celebrate learning.)
Applies Performance Improvement methods (identify opportunities for improvement, understand work processes, identify the root causes of variation, develop feasible change options, implement the changes, measure the impact/resulting improvement, and act to hold the gain or make further changes)
Acts within the roles and responsibilities of a facilitator; manages group processes and intervenes as needed to keep the group on track to meet or exceed their goals. (team building, listening, communication, and conflict resolution skills)
Applies and appropriately uses performance enhancing tools in support of the improvement process (cause-effect diagrams, flowcharts, brain storming), problem analysis (pareto charts, run charts, financial analyses, etc.) and measurement
Work with the AboutHealth members to implement practice and operational changes
Understands change management principles and can successfully lead others through the change process
Demonstrate proficiency in using data to measure the impact of change and overall performance
Assures the improvement activities are documented and reported within the organization and externally as appropriate
Independently and with minimal supervision, will manage multiple concurrent projects
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree in Health Sciences or Nursing, Business or Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management or Management Engineering.
3 years of experience in health care improvement or formally leading change in health care.
Possess a working knowledge of project management and Improvement methodologies and tools
Demonstrated proficient skills in Microsoft Office Products (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required)
Experience creating graphical displays such as run charts and the use of Flowcharts
Excellent organization and prioritization skills
High level written and verbal communication skills
Experience facilitating large groups for a common purpose
This position will require travel to member organizations or to various meetings. Approximately 20% travel.
