Place of performance contract services will take place in the Health Services Department/Dental Clinic
Education and Experience
Contract Dental Hygienists must have graduated from an accredited school or program in dental hygiene; must have a current license from the West Virginia Board of Dental Examiners to practice dental hygiene in the state of West Virginian, and must have a minimum of one-year current experience as a Dental Hygienist. Contract Dental Hygienists must submit photocopies of their license and/or board certification, three letters of references from professional peers and sign consent for release of information for verification of credentials along with their quote.
Description of Duties :
The contractor will provide services, professional in nature, in the method is considered normal in the local community and in accordance with Joint Commission standards and Bureau of Prison policies. The performance of these services will also be verified by the designated COR.
The Contractor will generally work under the supervision of the staff Dentist; however, may be required to work under the supervision of the Clinical Director or a BOP mid-level practitioner.
The Contractor will be responsible for personal healthcare needs and costs associated with exposure, or possible exposure to any bloodborne pathogen or other risk encountered during performance of this contract.
The contractor shall provide the following Dental Hygienist services, which include, but are not limited to, the items listed below.
Provide dental prophylaxis and topical fluoride application on inmates who are referred by the dental staff" Provide thorough individualized oral hygiene education and instructions to each patient" Monitor oral hygiene and periodontal condition on each patient seen for dental prophylaxis" Complete necessary dental x-rays as specified by the dentist " Will maintain accountability of sharps and syringes
Assist with sick call and the Dentist when needed" Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other instruments as specified by the dental staff" Perform necessary paperwork related to scheduling patients for dental prophylaxis as directed by the dental staff" Use of electronic medical records and proper documentation for patient information and scheduling of appointments." May assist in monitoring, stocking, and organizing of Dental clinic supplies, assist with the ordering of supplies for the Chief Dentist, and any other duties assigned by the Dentist in accordance with the job duties required.
Generally, Dental Hygienist services shall be rendered to an average of 8-10 inmates per day.
