General Manager (GM) Job Opening in Duluth, Minnesota - GENERAL MANAGER
We are looking for a hotel general manager at the Residence Inn Duluth. The hotel manager is the general manager of a small, but relatively complex, business. The general manager has a wide range of management responsibilities, coupled with the day-to-day supervision of full-time and part-time personnel, which may include guest service representatives, lead room attendant(s), room attendants, maintenance person(s), laundry person(s), breakfast host/hostess, guest service manager, and director of sales.
Summary:
Responsible for directing and overseeing all operational activities and departments in the hotel in order to maximize revenue, control expense, and deliver a positive guest experience.
Required Experience: Three to five years of prior hotel management experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional customer service to all hotel guests.
Perform quality assurance (QA) requirements for property.
Complete tasks as needed for the property owners, the Management Company, associates, and guests bearing in mind these needs are subject to change.
Direct the operation of the property to ensure the highest level of profitability.
Achieve budgeted revenue and profit goals, balancing cost with guest satisfaction.
Ensure the implementation of and adherence to all policies and procedures.
Interview and hire staff. Maintain confidential personnel files.
Train and direct employees and department supervisors in all policies, procedures, and job responsibilities.
Prepare work schedules.
Conduct performance evaluations for all employees.
Promote teamwork and maintain high morale amongst staff.
Keep payroll records and follow all laws regarding payroll. Compile payroll information and submit timely.
Have staff meetings.
Purchase property supplies and verify accuracy of all invoices received.
Monitor inventory control and have a complete inventory done monthly.
Establish and maintain a repair and maintenance follow-up program. To ensure the property and its inventory are always in its best condition.
Establish emergency procedures.
Set up an efficient front desk and review night audit daily.
Maintain specific Product Quality Standards.
Establish and practice security measures.
Ensure that a viable key control program is in place.
Develop and maintain a sales and marketing plan.
Be aware of other lodging rates & facilities available in your area.
Oversee and train front desk sales. Make sales calls.
Keep accurate accounting records & answer questions from home office timely.
Prepare, review and submit on a timely basis all required operational results/reports to corporate office.
Balance cash on hand daily and record all over/shortages and make daily bank deposits.
Comply with all corporate accounting procedures.
Review direct billings and collect on any outstanding balances.
Inspect property and rooms on a regular basis to ensure cleanliness and quality expectations are maintained.
Understand and follow all state procedures for tax exempt sales.
Follow up on guest complaints and credit card disputes.
Report all accidents immediately to the corporate office.
Performs other duties as required.
