Estimator Job Opening in Albuquerque, New mexico - Senspex Inc. is looking to hire an Estimator for various contracts and projects. The primary duties of this position will be to perform a thorough review of contract documents, perform a material and labor take-off, develop bid proposals, and coordinate with the team on the scope of work required. There will also be necessary communication with our customers to establish scope items and exclusions so as to provide a complete bid package. This position requires you to be a highly organized, thorough, and an independent worker. The ability to multi-task and manage time effectively is a must. Good interpersonal skills and communication are also a big part of the position. Knowledge of government contracts is highly preferred, and knowledge of thermal imaging technology even more so.
Essential Functions:
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man hour figures.
Perform contract document review, material/labor take-off, bid proposal.
Coordinate scope items with customer.
Obtain quotes from other vendors for buy-out items.
Track material costs and trends from suppliers.
Consult with vendors, personnel in other departments or engineers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Confer with Engineers on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Coordinate with staff to ensure project continuity.
Establish the likely progress and completion rates, including allowances for unforeseen circumstances.
Establish and maintain relationships with customer representatives.
Be proactive and organized in communications via phone and email.
Follow up on awarded and non-awarded projects.
Coordinate with staff to verify labor times and costs are in line.
Handle change order pricing on existing jobs.
Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiency within assigned area.
Other tasks and duties as determined by management.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting, Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
Or in lieu of a degree, 5 years of relevant work experience will be considered. This may include some college level courses and training.
Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems essential.
Proficient MS Office computer skills (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Proven interpersonal and written communication skills.
Able to work and interact with various team members during all phases of projects.
Must have a valid driver's license with safe driving history.
