Benefit and Payroll Clerk Job Opening in Springfield, Illinois - General purpose of the position: To work within the office department performing benefit and payroll job duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: __
Process employee personnel record maintenance.
Work with benefit providers
Enroll, change, or terminate employee benefits
Process benefits to accurately take payroll deductions
Process governmental reporting
Validate benefit providers billings against payroll deductions.
Process Union health, dues and initiation fees for employees
Work with location Human Resource Reps
Process bi-weekly payrolls
Process journal entries related to benefit billings
Verify paperwork for accuracy prior to data entry.
Process employee maintenance accurately and timely
Process open enrollments annually for benefits.
Pay close attention to detail and recognize when there is an issue.
Enter and update accrual information for vacation, sick time, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: _
High School Diploma or GED
Must have 3 -5 years of payroll experience or 2-3 years of accounting related work experience.__
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong organizing and coordinating skills.
Prioritize duties, attention to detail and accuracy._
Thorough understanding of computers, knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word.
Analyze and solve problems.
Strong math skills.
General understanding of basic accounting.
Work in a team environment
Handle multiple tasks at once
Good communication skills, verbal and written.
Follow written and oral instructions.
