Norfolk Southern Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, seeks an energetic problem solver with proficiency in the area of J2EE, Relational Database technologies and object oriented analysis and design principles. This applicant must be highly motivated to meet project deadlines and technology challenges. The Norfolk Southern Information Technology Department is searching for a qualified candidate to join a dynamic development team working on both existing and new Java applications. As a part of our talented and innovative Mobility Team, you will take part in the development of cutting-edge mobile applications that solve challenging business needs. You will be building apps from ground up, starting with investigating design approaches, prototyping new solutions, and evaluating technical feasibility. You will be responsible for all aspects of development, testing, and maintenance of key systems. You will work in fast moving dynamic Agile - SCRUM environment to deliver great user experience and high quality software. Development responsibilities include overall application design and development of critical application components using a hybrid mobile approach. Other responsibilities include support and problem troubleshooting and resolution.
Location:
Midtown Atlanta, just across from Colony Square next to the Arts Center with easy access to MARTA Train & Bus Service, and interstate access.
Education:
4-yr College Degree required in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
Responsibilities :
Participate in the development and design of hybrid mobile applications using ExtJS, IBM MobileFirst, and Apache Cordova.
Work with business partners to gather requirements, prepare functional specifications, form project plans, and communicate progress throughout the software development lifecycle.
Analyze and design technical solutions for complex business requirements.
Provide proactive advice and feedback throughout.
Skills Required:
5+ years of application development using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
3+ years in an enterprise information technology environment developing JavaScript based client-server applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Experience with a source control system such as Git or TFS.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks like ExtJS, AngularJS, or React/React Native.
Effective independent and team player and self-starter with high adaptability to new technologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good understanding of design patterns and user interface design.
Experience developing and supporting mission critical applications running 24x7.
Skills Preferred:
Strong ExtJS knowledge and experience.
Experience developing mobile applications.
Experience with Apache Cordova or Adobe PhoneGap.
Familiarity with front-end testing methodologies, strategies and automated tools.
Java knowledge is a plus.
