Job Description
This position will serve as the subject matter expert to ensure compliance and consistency in adhering to U.S. Government Contract regulations and Cost Accounting Standards. The position will provide critical insight to the continued efforts around the implementation of CAS and will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the current accounting systems, policies and procedures for compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation. Additionally, the Cost Accountant will be responsible for the ongoing analysis of cost standards, tax reporting, process constraints, margin analysis, audits, tracking costs and contracts with monitoring data to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. This person will be the primary contact with the DCAA and DCMA in regards to labor categories, rates, audits and other communications.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Assists in month end close of General Ledger.
Development and maintenance of costing standards, rates, account reconciliations, inventory counts and valuation.
Enters monthly inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) into QuickBooks.
Maintains perpetual inventory and ensures security of all materials.
Generates labor, material and other direct costs by project/product reports for management review.
Maintains standard cost system.
Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program.
Analyze actual costs and prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Conducts product line analysis for management review.
Perform reviews/audits of company?s firm fixed price costs and cost-plus proposals prior to submission to government agencies.
Prepare estimates of new and proposed product costs.
Work closely with the Controller and the Director of Operations on corporate reporting.
Assist and serve as backup for the Purchasing Manager.
Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of solid cost accounting experience at a government contractor
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Masters preferred
Must have strong cost accounting background with experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on the development and analyses of cost standards.
Experience with government contracts, the DCAA and the DCMA.
Must be a US Citizen.
