Performance Improvement Coordinator Overview
The incumbent must plan, develop, assess, and implement policies and procedures for quality and performance improvement assurance, specific to healthcare operational systems and healthcare management. The incumbent will have knowledge of healthcare programs including risk management, data abstraction, regulatory compliance, and healthcare safety programs. The incumbent monitors and provides technical assistance to all hospital departments assuring that their specific performance improvement programs comply with The Joint Commission (TJC) on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations Standards. The incumbent serves as the organization?s point of contact (Director) with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation (COPs); the incumbent serves to coordinate the PI Committee operations, with collaboration and support provided to the PI Committee Medical Director. The incumbent coordinates operations under the direction of the Chief Quality Officer.
Performance Improvement Coordinator Responsibilities
Oversees the development, planning and administration of the performance improvement programs throughout the organization, with association and collaboration from the Risk Manager, Data Base Analyst, Safety Officer, PI Data Abstractor / Coordinator, Chief Compliance Officer, and the Chief Quality Officer (CQO) on clinical performance improvement measurements. For example: Core Measures, Patient Satisfaction surveys in-house and contracted, Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) and Meaningful Use criteria for the electronic medical record and assists with processes to promote quality outcomes and compliance.
Provides administrative and technical supervision, and identifies challenges, prioritizes efforts, develops expectations of programs, as well as timeliness for completion of quality measurement and outcome reports.
Maintains ongoing communications with department leaders to ensure they comply with submitting their data for organizational PI reports to the PI Committee, on a scheduled timeline throughout the year.
Implements systems and processes for documenting and monitoring program information.
Ensures an aggressive continuous (The Joint Commission) survey readiness through continuous and systematic review of all The Joint Commission accreditation standards.
Manages the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations for the credentialed medical staff at TCRHCC, in collaboration with the Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist and the Chief Medical Officer.
Co-chairs the Performance Improvement Committee in the absence of the PI Medical Director, ensuring managers are aware of PI activities and performances relevant to the hospital-wide indicators.
Coordinates the systematic development, review, revision, distribution and cancellation of Hospital-wide Policies. Manages oversight for the implementation and management of the electronic "Policy Manager System."
Participates as a presenter in the New Employee General Orientation and Mandatory Annual Training Programs.
Conducts other organization-wide Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement in-services, as appropriate to promote quality healthcare provisions and regulatory compliances.
Assumes leadership duties as delegated, in the absence of the CQO.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Salary Range from $65,680 to $98,520 based on experience level Education & Experience
Education:
A bachelor?s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, public health and hygiene or a related healthcare field associated with quality and performance improvement/ management
Certification:
A valid, current, full and unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice nursing in any state of the United States of America, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States as a Registered Nurse
Experience:
Three to five years of experience in a healthcare field with relevant skills and knowledge in performance improvement processes; recent experience (within the past five years) as an active participant with a recent accreditation and CMS regulatory compliance site survey.
