Outside Steel Sales Job Opening in Pawcatuck, Connecticut - Lapham-Hickey Steel - Pawcatuck, a full line carbon Steel Service Center has an opportunity for a sales and marketing professional to fill an Outside Sales position covering CT, Western MA, VT, and NH. The successful candidate must have strong communication skills, exhibit drive, be self-motivated and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Purpose/Summary:
Responsible for customer service which includes handling incoming and outgoing sales calls, inquiries, and customer complaints.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts within assigned territory.
Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules, etc.
Work closely with Inside Sales Reps to achieve desired results
Report activity to Sales Manager on new prospects, sales, and market conditions.
Provide price quotes, product availability and current status of orders via telephone, fax or email to customers as needed.
Manage & report personal expense account.
Understand & comply with company safety program.
Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel & Outlook.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions will consist of driving and may consist of repetitive motions. Physical requirements include continual sitting and some standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and twisting with periodic bending. The ability to walk, talk, listen and the use of the hands is required of the employee on a daily basis.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:
Previous sales and steel experience required. Fabrication experience is a plus.
Must have excellent sales & communication skills
Clean driving record with valid driver?s license and insurance required
Must be energetic, dependable and highly organized
Basic blueprint reading is a must
Ability to listen and organize daily, weekly and monthly tasks
The ability to lift up to 50 lbs
The ability to positively represent the company to customers.
Flexibility and the ability to prioritize.
Knowledge of general shop procedures and rules including safety precautions.
Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a production team.
