Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
In the Open Access area, provides oversight of the Medical Assistant (MA) staff, daily workflow activities, troubleshooting, staffing needs, delegation of duties, scheduling of staff and procedures, problem-solving and assessing staff educational needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively with the Practice Administrator on operational and clinical communications and special projects related to the clinic.
Serves as preceptor/mentor for new staff in the clinic.
Creates balanced work schedules for support staff, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
Introduces self, greets and welcomes patients and prepares for pre-exam information gathering.
Directs patient flow for maximum efficiency and a positive patient experience.
Accurately obtains and records information including chief complaint, patient history, height, weight, vital signs, allergies and current medication list.
Asks patients about any self-referrals, recent ER visits or hospitalizations, and requests reports from appropriate sources, documenting in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Has the ability to perform phlebotomy and in-house diagnostic tests, as ordered by the provider including CBC, CMP, HgbA1c, FSBS, FOB, EKGs, spirometry and others.
Administers immunizations as ordered by the provider; documents in EHR and OSIIS.
Administers medications, injections and treatments under the direction of the provider.
Able to perform basic wound care, limited X-rays, suture/stitch removal, splint application, eye exams, etc.
Assist providers with dermatology and various other procedures.
Confirms and clarifies provider?s orders prior to implementation.
Assists with routine clerical functions such as scheduling appointments, procedures, and locating and compiling charges appropriately for billing purposes.
Answers phone and forwards information to provider (i.e. Critical Labs, etc.).
Responds promptly to assigned telephone encounters assigned to self and others, and completes all by end of shift.
Monitors controlled drugs; assists with daily counts.
Cleans and prepares exam rooms; replenishes supply stock after use.
Disposes of contaminated items according to VARIETY CARE policy.
Follows ?Universal Precautions? for safety regulations; uses appropriate PPE as task on hand requires.
Follows HIPAA guidelines and VARIETY CARE policy and procedures as it relates to patient privacy.
Arranges for referrals outside VARIETY CARE, as requested by the provider.
Assists with medical emergencies (Code Yellow and Code Blue) as directed by provider.

Requirements, Special Skills, or Knowledge:
Successful completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
Active Oklahoma LPN License.
Previous LPN experience in an Urgent Care, ER, or outpatient clinic is preferred.
Basic Life Support for the Healthcare provider required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
ADA Requirements:
Able to lift at least 25 pounds
Able to assist patients on to and off of exam table when asked or directed.
