Payroll Specialist Job Opening in Durant, Oklahoma - Job Purpose or Objective(s): A payroll specialist is able to use payroll software with accuracy and efficiency. They are good with numbers and can be trusted with sensitive information. They also have great communications skills to interact with colleagues and executives.
Primary Tasks:
1. Process weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls and maintain payroll records.
2. Reviews, analyzes, and checks payroll imports, pay data batches and reports for accuracy and makes necessary adjustments or corrections.
3. Researches, analyzes, and resolves payroll-related problems or questions.
4. Processes garnishments which include child supports, tax levies, student loans, WRIT of garnishments.
5. Make pay adjustments and post information to designated records.
6. Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations utilizing knowledge of our current businesses, contracts, federal, state and international policies and regulations.
7. Conducts training sessions for departmental payroll representatives to explain policies and procedures, federal and state regulations and laws.
8. Processes and maintains W-4 tax data and changes in personal data.
9. Compiles and analyzes payroll data, makes recommendations and determinations and prepares related reports.
10. Compiles financial, tax, and payroll reports for both internal and external purpose; submits to supervisor for review.
11. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
· High School Diploma/GED
· 4 to 6 years of experience in HR/Payroll
· Working knowledge of payroll best practices
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel
· Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
· Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
· Strong Communication skills (verbal and written)
· Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
· Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
· Ability to detect inconsistencies in data
· Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Target
· CPP certification
· ADP experience
· 4 to 6 years? experience in a multi-state payroll environment
· BS/BA in Business, Accounting or Relevant Field
· Working knowledge of E-time, Kronos, ADP PCPW, ADP WFN, Paychex, Deltek
· Working knowledge of Davis Bacon and McNamara O?Hara Service Contract Act(s)
