Senior Tax Accountant Job Opening in Arcadia, Wisconsin - Job Description *
Assists in the preparation of Federal and state income tax returns for the various Ashley Company entities. Apply tax and accounting knowledge to appropriately complete returns and advise management on proper planning and compliance. Works directly with the Tax Manager to timely complete income tax audits as necessary.
Essential Functions:
Prepares income tax work-papers and returns for the Ashley companies. Ensures the correct amount of tax is paid throughout the year to avoid penalties and to minimize tax payments. (75%)
Gathers information for any returns under audit and works with the auditors.
Research miscellaneous tax questions or issues that arise to enhance the company?s compliance with tax law and minimize tax costs. Frequently interact with others to communicate technical information and recommendations to management.
Completes other duties and special projects as assigned.
Maintain reliable attendance.
Actively participate in departmental meetings, training and education. Assist with training other employees and providing backup.
Job Requirements
Education: * Bachelor?s degree in Accounting required
Experience: * 5-10 years of tax preparation experience required * Experience with closely held businesses preferred * Prior tax research experience required, either from prior work experience or through education. * One to two years of public accounting experience required
Knowledge of: * Tax law & GAAP
Skills and Abilities: * Effective time management & organizational skills * Work independently as well as in team environment * Effective interpersonal communication skills * Analytical & problem solving skills * Maintain confidentiality * Handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints * Proficient in MS Office Suite, Internet * Respond professionally in situations with difficult issues or inquiries * Think of tax saving opportunities
