Senior Cost Accountant Job Opening in Irving, Texas - The Senior Accountant is responsible for cost control and reporting for ASC, establishing standardized company-wide inventory reporting, Cost of Goods Sold variance analysis and controls over vendor cost changes. This will require implementing new policies, processes and procedures for accounting as well as developing new reporting. This position will interact and partner with vendor management and operations to report cost of goods sold components to ensure profit initiatives impacting average and standard cost are realized. In addition, the position will collaborate with the pricing team to pass cost increases through to customers when appropriate.
In this exciting role, you will:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Establish standardized reporting, policies, process and procedures around inventory and cost of goods sold
Work with cross functional teams to report cost of goods components and implementation of price increases
Performs margin analysis per SKU per customer and vendor as required
Ensure that weekly and monthly reports are prepared and reviewed with exceptions identified
Support the Accounting Managers, as needed, with month end close process related to cost and inventory analysis
Assist FP&A in review of operations to identify cost savings opportunities
Assist FP&A and Accounting in annual budget process and periodic forecast updates
Ongoing review of costing standards to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with established policies, processes, and procedures
Provide support to accounting team for annual financial audits related to inventory and cost request from external accounting firm
Do you have the following qualities?
Can function under highly stressful conditions and interact cordially with co-workers to accomplish common tasks
Previous cost accounting experience is necessary, minimum 5 years? experience preferred
Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
Must have a strong cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles
Working knowledge of GAAP and standard costing
Previous experience in account reconciliation, cost analysis and month-end close responsibilities
Planning and organization; ability to plan and manage multiple projects
Your education & experience should be similar to:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of five years cost accounting experience
Computer proficient in ERP Systems
Full, advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Excellent writing and grammatical skills
