Community Hab/Respite Specialists Job Opening in new york, New York - Community Hab/Respite Specialists COMMUNITY SPECIALISTS Employer: SKIP OF NEW YORK Location: STATEN ISLAND Job Status: PART-TIME Shift: *JOB DESCRIPTION: Non-Profit Organization seeks Community Specialists to work one-to-one with Developmentally Disabled children in the following areas: -Arlington -Bull's Head -Eltingville -New Dorp -Richmond -Travis -Westerly -Willowbrook *As a Community Habilitation Specialist your job is to ASSIST, PROMPT, TEACH, AND TRAIN the consumer on various life skills. *As a Respite Specialist your job is to provide relief to the caregiver by supervising the child. * JOB REQUIREMENTS: -MUST be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma/GED. -MUST have 1 to 2 years prior experience working with the DD Population. -MUST be a Current College Student or Have Completed Some College. -MUST be able to submit to and pass a Criminal Background Check administered by OPWDD * JOB DUTIES: -Will be required to assist with self-help, cognitive skills, and community inclusion *Part-Time: Schedules may vary depending on the family in which you are servicing. Will be required to supervise the boy. Sundays, Mornings/Afternoons *Staten Island Family#2 Respite Seeking someone to work one-to-one with a developmentally disabled 12 year old girl in the Eltingville section of Staten Island. Will be required to supervise and assist with homework. 3 to 5 flexible Days a week from 4:00PM to 7:00PM *Staten Island Family#3 Respite Seeking someone to work one-to-one with a developmentally disabled 11 year old girl in the Richmond area. Will be required to supervise the girl. Saturdays & Sundays, Flexible hours *Staten Island Family#4 Community Habilitation Seeking someone to work one-to-one with a developmentally disabled 10 year old boy in the Travis area. Will be required to participate in community activities with the boy. Wednesday/Friday from 3:00PM to 7:00PM and Saturday/Sunday from 12:00PM to 4:00PM Staten Island Family #5 Respite Seeking someone to work one-to-one with a developmentally disabled 26 year old young woman in the New Dorp area. Will be required to participate in community activities with the young woman. * Sunday from 12:00PM to 4:00PM and 2 Flexible days a week, Flexible evening hours Staten Island Family #6 Respite Seeking someone to work one-to-one with a developmentally disabled 12 year old boy in the Westerly area. Will be required to assist with homework and keep the boy occupied. Monday-Wednesday from 3:30PM to 7:30PM & Sunday from 12:00PM to 4:00pM Staten Island Family #7 Community Habilitation Seeking someone to work one-to-one with a developmentally disabled 16 year old girl in the Arlington area. Will be required to assist with self=help & cognitive skills.
